How to Travel In and Around Ooty
Buses :
I personally believe that boarding a bus is the greatest method to discover the authentic Ooty and other Nilgiri Hills locations.
There is an excellent transport network in this area, therefore there is a bus for every location close to Ooty, including Kotagiri, Kodanadu, Coonoor, and others. Buses are also affordable and practical if you know where you're going.
Having to schedule your day in advance is the one drawback to taking the bus.
Cabs :
Hiring a cab is the easiest and most practical way to see Ooty if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. If you are travelling alone or with only one buddy, it may be pricey, but if you are travelling with others, it may be quite helpful.
It will cost you roughly 2,000 INR and take at least 6-7 hours to take a tour to places like Avalanche Lake, Emerald Lake, etc.
It will also cost 2,500 INR to take a tour of the Kotagiri side, which will take virtually the entire day.
So, if you do decide to take a cab, be careful to split the bill with a few other people or it could end up being quite costly for you.
Walking :
The greatest method to see the town if you are staying there is by wandering around. After an hour of walking, you may easily reach the majority of the locations.
Additionally, you can pause wherever you like along the trip to take in the views of the mountains and tea fields.
Autos Using an auto is another practical and quick means of transportation for city travellers.
It is excellent for short trips, but it may also be very expensive. However, the ideal method to explore this hill station if you don't want to spend a lot of time walking is to take an auto.
